The Iowa Department of Education recently shared the latest state school performance ratings and federal designations for Every Student Succeeds Act. These ratings are based on an Overall Performance Score—a comprehensive metric reflecting multiple performance measures. It's important to consider this is the first year since the state revised its scoring metrics, so scores from previous years are not directly comparable with this year’s score.
And, while this score provides a snapshot of school performance, it’s also important to recognize that it doesn’t fully capture the complete picture of our students’ success and academic achievements.
We are proud to share that our district performed at or above the state average on every metric, with the majority of our schools either maintaining or improving their overall rating.
This report also highlighted opportunities for growth. Efforts to address these areas are already underway, including:
• Taking steps to address ESSA Targeted Status for students with IEPs through a Special Education Program Review
• Boosting test participation rates at CDHS
• Continuing to enhance academic excellence to ensure every student achieves growth each year
We’re proud of the progress made and are committed to ongoing improvement for all students!
