CDIS Craft show

Today CDIS held a very successful Craft Show as their first-ever “Opportunity for Entrepreneurs.” This idea was brought about by 6th grader Talia Stroud who presented the idea to Extended Learning Program Teacher Mrs. Hahn, who in turn presented it to Mr. Lueders, the CDIS principal. After considering the learning opportunities that could come from this, CDIS decided to make “Opportunity for Entrepreneurs" happen.

Led by Talia, students worked with Mrs. Hahn to plan and facilitate the idea. The students met with the organizer of the DeWitt Farmers Market to share planning and ideas. The students developed spreadsheets to keep track of vendors, inventory and money, created advertisements and communicated with participants as well as organized the physical space. The craft show participants also had an opportunity to advertise the items they were selling.

Over 30 students sold items they created at the Craft Show this morning. There was everything from bracelets to body scrubs to crocheted turtles available for purchase! CDIS plans to continue having this event for students at the end of each month. How rewarding to see the interest and talents of our students, and give them an opportunity to showcase their creations! Way to go, Sabers!
